Accessing internet after a long long time... at least that's how it feels like. We both (me and Shraddha) are so addicted to the net that now even a few day's away from the net feels like long.
Day 4 since we started our south-east asia trip. We left Pune late night on 22nd. On day 2 we took a Mumbai-Kolkata-Bangkok flight and then a bus ride to Pattaya.
WOW! This feels really good. I'm here near our departure gate at Portland airport just checking mails etc. on my laptop and I just realized for next two months I don't have to worry about work!
Photos of our Dec 2005 trip have been posted to Photo Gallery.
[G2:12377 class=left aframe=notebook] This was a nice trip. I met two of my friends, one in Chattanooga, TN and one in Melbourne, FL (about 50 miles south-east of Orlando, FL). We also visited Atlanta, Disney World, Kennedy Space Center. Shraddha has also shot some video which I'm planning to edit and create a movie. I'll add it to the Photo Gallery when I get time.
The gentleman at the travel help desk at the hotel told us that this was one of the slower years with much less crowds than normal during the holiday. And he was right.
We are in Orlando, FL. Yesterday's drive was really tiring. Throughout the I-75 drive in Georgia, we had rain. And at times it was so heavy we could not see much farther than 100-200 feet. I could barely see the tail lights of the vehicle in front of me. About 25 miles into Florida there was no rain, very little clouds and the roads were dry. We reached the hotel at about 7:30pm.
We arrived in Chattanooga, TN taking a long circuitous route from Portland to Seattle, Seattle to Chicago, Chicago to Atlanta by plane and then from Atlanta to Chattanooga by road. My friend had come to Atlanta airport to receive us. The journey was uneventful and boring except for a glitch on Atlanta airport when one of my checked-in bag didn't show up. But it turned up a few minutes later (being small it got lost in a pile of luggage). All my cameras, PDA and GPS were in this bag. So it would have made me real upset without my cameras and GPS.
We're in Arlington, VA today. This place is about 7 miles from downtown Washington, DC. [G2:11232 class=left iframe=notebook] Yesterday we saw Washington, DC. It was July 4th celebration time. So many places were closed. But we were able to see all the usual places. Took a photo in front of the White House. Saw Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol Building. We started in Edison, NJ and rented a car from Newark airport. Then headed straight towards WDC. It took us 3 hours and 10 minutes to reach Downtown, Washington, DC at 12:30pm. Traffic was light. No trouble at all. Then we had a lunch at a nice Spanish restaurant in downtown. Then we went straight to White House. We used public transport. Washington's Metro system is very nice. There were so many different events going on in the national capital area. Lots of people around. The weather was great. 80+ degrees throughout the day. But not too hot.
